The Grand Vitara is the spearhead of the company's 4x4 range. With its very wide range of both engines and body types, it is very successful in its market. It is available with two types of body: - 3-door (2.20 metre wheelbase), "estate" or "soft-top" - 5-door (2.48 metre wheelbase), "estate" This very comprehensive range is suitable for all types of use. The Grand Vitara has been designed both for leisure, with off-road capabilities, and for road and family use. With Suzuki's patented "Drive Select 4x4", the driver can if necessary engage 4WD while moving in a straight line (up to100 kilometres/hour). This very efficient transmission provides a real opportunity to make full use of the car's off-road capabilities. The two rear seats can be folded down separately to extend the capacity of the luggage compartment with one or two additional flat surfaces. The luggage compartment has a 12 volt socket and a loading light. The high driving position and large windscreen ensure perfect visibility in all circumstances. The vehicle has a wealth of equipment, including central locking (remote control as standard for the 5-door version), 16 inch light alloy wheels, roof bars, adjustable height steering wheel and driver's seat, as well as the usual comfort features found in Suzuki cars: electric windows and rear view mirrors. Air conditioning is standard on all models, except for the 1.6 litre / 3-door and the standard turbo-Diesel, where it is available as an option. Safety is one of Suzuki's major concerns, and the Grand Vitara includes ABS as standard on all models, except the 1.6 litre / 3-door, the standard "soft-top" and the standard turbo-Diesel Dual front airbags are fitted as standard on all versions. Metallic paint is available as an option. Engine The 5-door Grand Vitara can have a 2.0 litre diesel direct injection common rail engine which develops 80 kW (109 bhp) and provides a torque of 250 Nm at only 1750 rpm. This very economical diesel engine only consumes 6.6 litres/100 km, and the CO2 emissions are 190 g/km. The 5-door version is also available in a petrol version with a 2.5 litre V6 multipoint injection engine coupled to a manual or automatic gearbox. Developing 106 kW (144 bhp) and providing of a torque of 208 Nm, this engine gives the Grand Vitara one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the category. The 3-door "estate" version is available with either a 2.0 litre 94 kW (128 bhp) petrol engine or a 1.6 litre all-aluminium 69 kW (94 bhp) petrol engine. The 3-door "soft-top" version has the 1.6 litre petrol engine. |
