The Jimny is a compact, functional and fun 4x4 leisure vehicle. With 3 doors, it is an off-road vehicle that loves the dust of the tracks and the asphalt of the city. The Jimny is available in two versions, "estate" and "soft-top" measuring only 3.645 metres long. On the technical front, both versions have rigid axles and coil springs. This design, combined with short overhangs, enables the Jimny to handle 42° slopes forwards and 46° in reverse. The technical design of the Jimny means that it can handle difficult off-road slopes, making full use of the capabilities of its chassis and its power train. During normal driving, the transmission to the rear wheels is via a 5 speed gearbox. It is easy to engage the front transmission to switch to 4x4, even while moving (up to 100 kilometres/hour). A real 4x4, the Jimny has ultra low ratios for difficult off-road slopes. The Jimny is very easy to handle, and has a minimum turning radius of less than 5 metres. Its power steering makes it easy to move through urban traffic and simple to manoeuvre. Not only is the Jimny spirited, it is also comfortable. The front seats can be folded down fully to form a bed for two people with the rear seats. Both halves of the rear bench seat can be folded down separately, to provide space for differing loads. The equipment of the standard Jimny, "estate" and "soft-top" includes electric front windows, height adjustable front seat belts, central lockingdualairbags and on the "estate" roof bars and rear windscreen wiper. Air conditioning and ABS are provided on the Luxury versions. There is also a special "soft-top" edition, named the "MAORI". In addition to the already comprehensive equipment this version includes extra items as standard: a radio/CD player and wood finish gear stick and transfer gearbox knobs. There is a single option available: a pack to improve the comfort and appearance, providing air conditioning and alloy wheels. It is only made in one colour, Atlas beige, giving it an appearance that is both spirited and elegant. Engine Both versions are available with a 4-cylinder, 16-valve, light alloy 1.3 litre petrol engine, with twin cam on the "estate". It develops 60 kW (81 bhp) on the "estate" and 59 kW (80 bhp) on the "soft-top" The average consumption is 7.8 litres/100 km for the "estate" with manual gearbox. It is also available with an automatic gearbox on the "estate" version only. |
