1981 | GSX400F
400 cm³, 4-cylinder model equipped with 4 valves per cylinder for the first time
The GSX400F features a 400 cm³ 4-stroke 4-DOHC cylinder engine equipped with Twin Swirl Combustion Chambers (TSCCs). It was the first engine with 4 valves per cylinder and small-diameter bores, which had been considered very difficult to realize. Its image was further enhanced by a fresh-looking two-tone body coloring. The GSX400F also features mechanisms and equipment that enhance the sportiness of the model, such as double Anti Nose Dive Forks (ANDF), double disc brakes at the front, and a single disc brake at the rear.

1983 | GSX400FW
Equipped with an inline four engine designed to realize limitless total performance
The GSX400FW features a newly developed liquid-cooled 4-stroke 4-cylinder DOHC engine equipped with Twin Swirl Combustion Chambers (TSCCs) that generates a high maximum horsepower of 50 PS, as well as outstanding fuel economy. The double cradle frame is composed of both square and round pipes for excellent strength and rigidity. Substantial reductions in weight were also realized due to features such as an aluminum square pipe swingarm. The chassis incorporates a semi air suspension, a 16-inch wheel, and the Anti Nose Dive Forks (ANDF) at the front, and the Full-Floater rear suspension to enhance ride comfort and handling. The exterior design is distinguished by half-faired styling (mini-faired specifications are also available) and a new type of cast wheels.

1988 | GSX400F
New next-generation touring model with flowing body lines
The GSX400F is a touring model ideally suited for users looking to take long journeys or rides with a passenger on the pillion. Its smoothly curved fully faired body was designed to reduce air resistance and help cool the engine while riding. The engine and chassis incorporate a wide range of technologies proven through use on the GSX-R400, including a slingshot carburetor and the Suzuki Power-up Exhaust System (SPES) that are specially tuned for long distance touring. Ideal riding performance is realized through a combination of features, such as the new link-type Full-Floater rear suspension, the Deca Piston Brake System (DPBS), and a newly designed double cradle frame.

1993 | RF400R
New standard tourer with sporty performance
The RF400R was developed at the same time as its sister model, the export-spec RF600R, and both models share chassis components. It was developed for users looking to make frequent long touring rides or rides with a passenger on the pillion. A fully faired body for aerodynamic efficiency, fatigue-reducing large seat, and Bandit 400-based engine tuned to emphasize performance in the low- to mid-rpm range create an extremely comfortable model that meets all the requirements of a touring motorcycle. This superb performance was reinforced by adopting a slingshot carburetor in the intake system that generates more powerful acceleration, a link-type rear suspension, and a newly designed pressed steel frame. A VC-spec version of the RF400R also debuted in 1994.
