1959 | Colleda Sel Twin SB

The first 125 cm³ model in the world to be equipped with a 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine

Colleda Sel Twin SB

Unveiled at a motor show in 1958, the Colleda Sel Twin SB features the world’s first 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine in the 125 cm³ class. The adoption of a twin cylinder engine enables higher rpms and compression, resulting in dramatic advances in performance. Paired with a rotary 4-speed transmission, this engine generates maximum horsepower of 10 PS and an impressive top speed of 110 km/h. Unusually for the time, it is also equipped with an electric starter. Another notable feature is the Jet Line styling that flows from the headlight to the fuel tank and tool box. This model is fitted with a telescopic front suspension, which resembles a bottom link suspension from the outside. The Colleda Sel Twin SB is also the forerunner of the subsequent Suzuki Sport models.

1960 | Colleda Sel Twin SB-2

Updated Colleda Sel Twin equipped with an engine inherited from a racing model

Colleda Sel Twin SB-2

The Colleda Sel Twin SB-2 features fundamentally the same engine as the Colleda RT racing machine that took part in the Isle of Man TT Races in 1960. This 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine is the first in its class to be equipped with a twin-carburetor system. Various modifications were also applied to the cylinders, combustion timing, scavenging passages, oil lubrication system, and crankcase scavenging pressure. As a result, maximum horsepower was increased from 10 to 11.5 PS. Fuel economy also improved from 60 to 65 km/L (40 km/h steady state fuel economy on paved roads*). The weight of the chassis was reduced by 5 kg, helping to realize 125 cm³ class-leading performance, such as a 0-to-400 m acceleration time of 21 seconds and a top speed of 115 km/h. This model is also equipped with the first starter lever-operated carburetor system to be adopted on a motorcycle.

Colleda 125SK

The distinguishing feature of the Colleda 125SK is its styling that expresses both functionality and speed. The 125 cm³ 2-stroke air-cooled 2-cylinder engine can be started using either an electric or a kick starter, and generates maximum horsepower of 11.5 PS with a top speed of 115 km/h. Upright pipe handlebars help the rider to maintain an ideal riding position. Combined with oil dampers that deliver comfortable cushioning performance, this model is perfectly suited for either work or leisure activities. Modified scrambler style models also performed well in clubman races throughout the country.
