1978 | RG250E

Sporty street model filled with technologies from the champion RGB500 GP machine

RG250E

The RG250E features a newly developed 250 cm³ 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine mounted on a lightweight 126 kg chassis that incorporates a semi-double cradle frame specially designed for the 250 cm³ class. This engine generates maximum horsepower of 30 PS and maximum torque of 28.4 N·m by adopting aluminum cylinders and a power reed valve. A power-weight ratio of 4.2 kg/PS puts this model a cut above bikes in the same class. The RG250E also features a high-capacity 15-liter fuel tank that can be gripped easily between the rider’s knees, hydraulic front disc brakes, and star-shaped cast wheels. Customers could also choose between semi-upright and continental type handlebars.

1983 | RG250Γ

Pioneer of the era of race replica models

RG250Γ

The RG250Γ features a freshly engineered 250 cm³ liquid-cooled 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine equipped with newly developed Suzuki Intake Power Chambers (SIPC). Paired with a flat slide carburetor and multi-stage expansion type muffler, this engine generates an impressive maximum horsepower of 45 PS. The Full-Floater rear suspension is combined with a semi air suspension, the Anti Nose Dive Fork (ANDF) system, a 16-inch wheel, and low profile tire at the front. Braking force is provided by triple disc brakes. The Dual Cell-ALBOX Frame, which is the first aluminum square-piped double cradle frame adopted on a mass production motorcycle in the world, helps to achieve a dry weight of only 131 kg. Combined with several cutting edge mechanisms, a realistic racing style half fairing and a factory racer paint scheme, the RG250Γ proved to be incredibly popular on its launch and helped to pave the way for an era filled with race replica models.

1988 | RGV250Γ

Designed with feedback from the technologies adopted on the RGV-Γ World Grand Prix racer

RGV250Γ

This is a full model change of the 1983 RG250Γ. It features a newly designed liquid-cooled 2-stroke 90-degree V-twin engine that combines maximum horsepower of 45 PS with high combustion efficiency and low vibration. The RGV250Γ is also the first ordinary production model to be equipped with Suzuki Boron Composite (SBC) cylinders coated with a nickel-phosphorus alloy and boron nitride compound. The RGV250Γ is equipped with an integrated and easily-swappable cassette-type transmission that can be replaced conveniently with a close-ratio transmission for racing. The chassis features large-diameter front forks with a Φ41 mm inner tube and the new link-type Full-Floater rear suspension for greater toughness. In addition, the newly designed Dual Cell-ALBOX (DC-ALBOX) frame achieves higher stiffness through the use of drawn aluminum members incorporating internal ribs.

1996 | RGV-Γ250SP

Designed with feedback from the technologies adopted on the 1995 RGV-Γ250 factory racer

RGV-Γ250SP

The RGV-Γ250SP is equipped with the same liquid-cooled 2-stroke 70-degree V-twin engine as adopted on the racing model. Highly efficient air intake and ideal power characteristics were realized by combining the air intake system with a new electronically controlled carburetor, helping to create an optimum balance between rideability and a high-performance maximum horsepower rating of 40 PS. The RGV-Γ250SP also features the same lightweight and highly rigid aluminum twin-beam frame of the racing model. In addition, the compact engine enables a short wheelbase that realizes agile and maneuverable handling. A fairing with superb aerodynamic performance was designed with feedback from the racing model. Other specifications shared with the racing model include the cassette-type transmission with easily swappable gears and a dry clutch with low mechanical losses.

1988 | WOLF

Naked model for the city based around the engine from the RGV250Γ

WOLF

The WOLF was designed specifically for riders looking for an accessible and fun-to-ride bike. Based around the liquid-cooled 2-stroke 90-degree V-twin engine of the RGV250Γ, the secondary reduction ratio was raised to emphasize performance in the low- and mid-rpm ranges for greater rideability in the city. Powerful riding performance is realized by the combination of a radial flow radiator with excellent cooling efficiency and a sharply responsive slingshot carburetor. The naked exterior styling was designed to project an aura of functional beauty. Another distinctive characteristic of the WOLF is the adoption of the new link-type Full-Floater rear suspension to enhance road following performance. Together, these features project an image of power and speed that perfectly match its lupine inspiration.
