Because the model was engineered assuming continuous full-throttle riding, large cylinder fins were adopted to provide superb coolant efficiency. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission that maintains the optimum rpms for the riding speed and makes the most effective use of the high power available from the engine. At the time, a 6-speed transmission was a high-performance piece of equipment, and Suzuki was the only manufacturer to adopt one on mass production models.
