1968 | T500
High-performance machine with a top speed of over 180 km/h
The T500 is the world’s first mass production motorcycle to feature a 500 cm³ 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine. This extremely durable engine was designed to emphasize performance in the low- and mid-rpm ranges and is the basis for the TR500 Titan racer model. The engine generates maximum horsepower of 47 PS and maximum torque of 53.94 N·m. Paired with a 5-speed transmission, this model is capable of reaching a top speed of 181 km/h with a 0-to-400 m acceleration time of just 13.2 seconds. The T500 was extremely well received both by aficionados of 2-stroke models and as a much-anticipated new model by fans of heavy sports bikes around the world. The T500 also helped to establish Suzuki’s brand as a manufacturer of 2-stroke motorcycles.

1969 | T500
Minor change model with greater riding stability at high speeds
To improve high-speed stability, the T500 features modified caster, front fork offset, and trail dimensions, as well as handlebars with a bridge that are ideally shaped for expressway riding. The carburetor specifications were also partially modified to enhance performance at low and medium rpms and to improve rideability on city streets. In addition, updated designs were adopted for the fuel tank, seat, meters, and other parts to create an impression of speed through low-slung horizontal lines, and to underline the powerful presence of a large displacement model.

1971 | GT500
Model change of the T500 launched as part of the GT series
The GT500 is equipped with a 500 cm³ 2-stroke air-cooled 2-cylinder engine that generates maximum horsepower of 47 PS and maximum torque of 53.9 N·m. The styling combines essential motorcycle design elements such as a down type muffler, large-capacity 14.5-liter fuel tank, and chrome-plated fenders to create a new image full of power and presence. This model positions the switches for the headlight, position lights, turn signals, and horn close to the rider’s left hand to enable speedy operation. The pillion seat has a deluxe appearance and reduces fatigue even during long-distance touring. The speedometer also features a built-in trip meter.

1972 | GT550
Next-generation GT model that adopts the Ram Air cooling system
The GT550 is equipped with a 550 cm³ 2-stroke 3-cylinder engine that generates maximum horsepower of 50 PS and improved power at low rpms. Combined with the outstandingly effective Ram Air cooling system, which was developed by Suzuki with inspiration from airplanes, this model can be ridden with greater reliably for long distances at high speeds. In addition, adopting a quad muffler for the three cylinders lowers the frequency of the exhaust note and helps to boost power at low rpms. Thorough attention was also paid to the improvement of basic performance in the engineering design, such as the adoption of a highly efficient hydraulic disc brake at the front wheel.
