A combination of sharp styling and fresh new body colors results in an outstanding scooter that appeals to the fashionable tastes of younger riders. This radical and unique design concept is called the “high hip shape,” and consists of body lines that rise up from the leg space toward the rear. Four choices of two-tone color schemes were made available. The Hi combines a lightweight and compact chassis with a 50 cm³ air-cooled 2-stroke engine that generates maximum horsepower of 6.5 PS, and a smoothly accelerating V-belt CVT to deliver ideal riding performance for a sporty scooter.

The Hi R was introduced as a model with enhanced sporty features to complement the design and equipment of the Hi. Its sporty image is emphasized by elements such as a sharp-looking front blister fender, front fairing, under cowling, and rear spoiler. The lights were designed to create a bold impression through the use of a yellow-bulb headlight and smoked lenses for the rear combination lights and turn signals. Other features that enhance the sporty ride of the Hi R include Anti Nose Dive Forks (ANDF) that improve handling under braking and low-profile 10-inch tires.

The HI UP was styled to appeal to active younger riders with sleek curves and enjoyable acceleration. A comfortable low seat height and wide foot space help to ensure a flexible riding position. The 50 cm³ air-cooled 2-stroke engine generates maximum horsepower of 6.5 PS, and is tuned to realize peppy riding performance by emphasizing acceleration in the low- and mid-rpm ranges. It also features grippy new-pattern tires and a long-stroke front suspension to enhance both ride comfort and handling.

The HI UP R is a further evolution of the sporty HI UP scooter. Aero parts such as an under cowling equipped with an air intake are combined with a chamber type muffler to create sharp and powerful styling. The 50 cm³ air-cooled 2-stroke engine was specially tuned to generate maximum horsepower of 7 PS. In addition, a large-diameter 162 mm hydraulic front disc brake, grippy low-profile tubeless tires, and a bottom-link front suspension help to further enhance both riding performance and comfort.
