1978 | SP370
Lightweight 4-stroke big single-engined model for on- and off-road riding
The SP370 pairs a compact 370 cm³ 4-stroke 1-cylinder SOHC 2-valve engine with a highly rigid semi-double cradle pipe frame that uses high-tensile steel pipes. Since maximum torque of 28.4 N·m arrives at 4,000 rpm, this is an easy-to-handle engine with flat torque characteristics from low- to high- rpm ranges. This model also realizes excellent cushioning performance with a front fork stroke of 195 mm. It also features an aluminum bottom case to reduce unsprung weight and a forward-tilted inverted rear suspension with nitrogen gas-filled shock absorbers to create a longer cushion stroke. In addition to the compact engine, the SP370 is also distinguished by its extremely lightweight chassis that realizes a dry weight of only 123 kg.
