1987 | VS1400
Chopper type cruiser combining low & lean styling with a powerful 1,400 cm³ V-twin engine
This is the big brother of the VS750 that debuted in 1985. The newly designed 1,400 cm³ 4-stroke oil-cooled V-twin SOHC 3-valve engine generates maximum horsepower of 107.9 N·m and maximum torque of 11 kg-m, ideal numbers for a big twin-cylinder cruiser. The exterior design was kept as simple as possible, with wiring harnesses passing through the inside of the handlebars and unobtrusively covered bolt nuts. With generous use of chrome plating across both the engine and chassis, the exterior design is a thorough expression of high quality with care paid to the finest details. These parts are arranged to create a flowing low & lean style. In addition, the adoption of a low-maintenance hydraulic valve adjuster and shaft drive mechanism also help to reduce noise.
