Suzuki's Gujarat Plant in India Achieves Accumulated Automobile Production of 3 Million Units
Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG), an automobile production company in India, has achieved accumulated automobile production of 3 million units on 4 December 2023.
SMG started production in February 2017 and achieved accumulated production of 3 million units in 6 years and 11 months, the fastest in any Suzuki production plant. The 3 millionth vehicle produced was the Fronx.
As Suzuki’s global production plant, SMG produces models not only for Indian market, but also for export. These models are exported to regions including Latin America and Africa. Production of BEVs is also planned to start in FY2024.
Aiming for further efficiency of automobile production business in India to meet the needs for growing market and carbon neutrality, SMG became a subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). MSIL plans to secure a production capacity of approximately 4 million units in India by FY2030.
