How to Make the Bullet Train Concourse Become a Stage
from Japan

In July 2025, e VITARA, Suzuki’s first global strategic BEV model, was unveiled in the Japanese market following its launches in India and Europe. To mark this latest release, Suzuki showcased the model along with its global compact SUV, the Fronx, at a unique venue, the bullet train concourse at the station of Hamamatsu, Suzuki’s hometown in Shizuoka prefecture.

At around 11:30 p.m. on July 10 the team gathered, waiting for the final train to clear the tracks to make sure work inside the station could proceed safely. Shortly after midnight as the day changed to July 11, trucks carrying the vehicles arrived and were unloaded. Calling out to each other to coordinate each step to ensure the utmost safety, the team worked together to first bring the vehicles into the station. Then they proceeded to the local-line ticket gate, avoiding the too-narrow bullet train gates. At tight corners where steering was not possible, the team used jacks to lift the tyres and adjust their orientation, a clever workaround that allowed a pivot through turns.

With the exhibit space located one level above the station entrance and ticketing floor, the cars had to be taken up a staircase. A temporary ramp on top of the stairs—a stable metal base, then covered with flat panels created a smooth, climbable path. Once the ramp was complete, the vehicles were moved slowly upward under watchful eyes. From there, the team continued carefully through the concourse to the designated display area.

At the display, e VITARA was presented alongside a V2H system that supports two-way charging and discharging between the vehicle and the home. A setup member said, “Replacing the vehicle on display is demanding, as the work must be done at midnight and requires meticulous care. But all the effort feels worthwhile when we see passengers stopping to look at the models or notice related posts on social media.”

This display venue has traditionally been used by Suzuki, and for many bullet train passengers passing through Hamamatsu station, it has helped deepen their appreciation of Suzuki's latest efforts to develop high-quality global products by showcasing actual products including cars, motorcycles, and outboard motors. Suzuki is proud to present products trusted around the world from its hometown of Hamamatsu. If you come to Hamamatsu station, please be sure to stop by the venue.
