Christian Iddon in the pre-Oulton Park BSB test.33Iddon also chalked up a top-10, though he sufiered another crash and had to battle through the pain barrier and manage his arm injury.“The weekend at Brands was always going to be difficult. In FP1 I just got through it but started loosening up in the second session before another crash. I hit the wall pretty hard and battered myself about a bit. There are nine races now to go until the Showdown is decided so we’ll keep pushing on.”After his heroics at the North West 200, Richard Cooper was back in Buildbase Suzuki TEAM SUZUKI RACING NEWScolours at Brands Hatch, as he raced a Superstock spec GSX-R1000R to victory. The 2019 Champion was classified second in a red-fiagged race one but took a stunning victory in race two to show that he and the big Suzuki remain a formidable combination.“It was a pretty awesome weekend,” he said of his return to British championship action. “We were under the lap record in qualifying, which is still my lap record on the Suzuki from 2017. We were in the fight for the podium and in with a shout of the win in race one before the red ffiags. But to be honest I was just happy to be back on the podium after a couple of years away from the British championship.“In race two I got into a rhythm and then started picking them ofi one every couple of laps into Graham Hill until I was in second. From there I let the laps tick down and then passed [David] Allingham on the penultimate lap but he was able to draft me and pass me into Paddock Hill on the final lap so I had to make the move again and held him offi to take the win. But it was a great weekend and I was thankful to the team for having me back.”Rea out front at Oulton.Richard Cooper rejoined the team to race a Superstock-spec GSX-R1000R to victory at Brands Hatch.2022 Summer IssueBritish Superbikes2022
