Luke Stapleford earned a podium at Thruxton.Intense BSB action from Rea at Oulton Park.Round 7, SnettertonRound 8, Silverstone“It was almost the perfect weekend; we put the settings in from last year, made the odd click here and there but nothing that means anything, and we were on the pace in every session, qualified on pole, and 44“FP1 was a real eye-opener though. It was unreal; the bike was just so fast you arrived at corners so much quicker, the brakes were so good, it felt like there was unlimited grip and I was amazed how hard you could open the throttle at max lean. In FP2 we found two seconds in lap time, we got through to Q2 and did a 1.27.5, and I was well happy with that.“We had three good races, we finished in the points in every one, and in the last race I set a personal best, and it was an incredible weekend. I loved the bike and loved working with the team.”With four rounds to go, Rea, who had shown flashes of his and the bike’s potential as he and the team continued to develop the bike to suit, hit a run of form.At Snetterton in September, Rea matched his career-best BSB result, and after leading a number of laps he finished fourth and only narrowly missed the podium. Neave, too, enjoyed a positive weekend in the Superstock class, finishing fourth. That run of form continued at Silverstone as Neave enjoyed a successful weekend, qualifying on pole before racing to victory at a circuit he arrived at as the existing lap record holder.got the win,” he summed up. “It was a big confidence boost, to be honest, to get back to where we should be, where we wanted to be.”Rea, too, had a positive weekend that saw him lead races and start race two from pole position. In race one he made a move for third position, in a bid to claim his first BSB podium, only for two riders in front to crash together, forcing him to take evasive action. He was credited with sixth as the race was stopped. He was sixth in race two and crashed out of race three, but despite the bad luck that cost him another result, his confidence remained high. And while Round 9 at Oulton Park had its challenges, a return to Donington Park finally saw the hard work and team effort bear fruit, with Rea taking two victories.“I felt I owed it to the team for their effort and I wanted to get the result we believed we could. It was an incredible weekend; big thanks to the team for the hard work and putting the bike underneath me.” – GINO REA.British Superbikes2021
