Mir in action at the Qatar openerRins and Mir at the Portuguese GPLe Mans, France on Friday Practice.5Mir and Rins brought home 4th and 6th in their first outing of the year in Doha, before practically switching places a week later to finish 7th and 4th. And while Mallorca’s Mir was able to step on the podium at the next round in Portugal, Rins found himself down and out. This, unfortunately, was to become a bit of a trend, with the Spaniard suffering a string of unlucky races and four ‘DNF’s in a row. As he was approaching the Catalan Grand Prix in early June he was hit by another setback as he suffered a broken wrist in training, although prompt surgery and a determined attitude meant he could return to the circuit less than two weeks later in Germany. Rins managed a solid 11th on his comeback, but at the following race in Holland he was struck by another rider and had to work his way up from last to another 11th place finish. Mir facing difficulties in qualifying and Meanwhile, Mir also suffered a DNF - his in France - but was able to put himself and the GSX-RR machine on the rostrum again in both Italy and Holland. At the beginning of the summer break he holds a healthy 4th in the championship standings. Both riders have had their struggles, with one-lap speed while demonstrating great race pace, and Rins proving he can be a regular front runner but suffering too many falls. Team Suzuki Ecstar as a whole have undergone changes in 2021 with the last minute departure of former Team Manager Davide Brivio at the start of the year, and the formation of a new, bigger, management committee made up of key team members. However, they have kept the same mindset which saw them lift the crown last year; one of steely determination, quiet hard work, and a close knit atmosphere. MotoGP™
