Sylvain Guintoli was the top team qualifier at Estoril and posted fastest lap of entire raceGregg Black nailed the 12 Hours of Estoril start to lead the raceAfter two crashes, the crew worked efficiently and quickly to get the bike back on track19At the drop of the flag, Black was once again the fastest to get out of the starting grid to holeshot the race from his 3rd position.The Suzuki GSX-R1000R dominated its opponents but the rising heat of the track, which increased each hour, put more and more strain on tyre grip. The track became tricky and many riders crashed, which was the case for Guintoli, sliding-off just before the third hour of the race while in the lead. The whole technical team quickly repaired the damage caused by this crash and when the Suzuki returned to the track, after more than six minutes in the pits, it was in 17th.Black, Siméon and Guintoli then focused on ensuring their rise in the rankings to get maximum points. At mid-race distance, the GSX-R1000R had already made up part of his deficit and was in 6th position. With the podium once again in sight, the team kept a good race pace, however, with five hours to go, Siméon, then 5th in the race, collided violently with another competitor.With all podium hopes gone, the team did not give up. After remarkable garage work by the crew, Guintoli was back out and, on lap 342, set the fastest lap of the entire race – 1:39.155. The focus now was to win some precious championship points.After completing 400 gruelling laps of the 12 Hours of Estoril and surviving two crashes, the perseverance and determination of Yoshimura SERT Motul was rewarded with a 17th place at the finish and 12 points.
