Wow, I can’t believe my flrst season in 8MotoGP has already finished! It’s been a year which has gone very quickly, but also has been challenging for me. These winter holidays, and the end of the year, are a nice time to refiect on the highs and lows…In the mid part of the season I started to get some strong results, like the 6th in Catalunya, also the 8th at Assen and then 7th in Germany. I was happy with those finishes, but the real highlight for me was actually TEAM SUZUKI RACING NEWSthe last few races. My feeling with the bike was really improved, I felt like a lot of things ‘clicked’ and it meant I could come into this off-season break feeling strong and positive. That was really important to me. to my lungs needed careful management, and it meant I lost a few rounds while I recovered. The hardest thing in 2019 was when I got injured in Brno. It’s a part of racing, and we have to accept it, but it was a struggle to heal quickly and return to the track. The damage But on the other hand, I learned a lot about myself and how to come back from injury and keep mentally strong. This year, a lot of media and journalists were keen to know about my adaptation to MotoGP and how I learned to ride the bike. For me, the most impressive thing was the sheer power of the machine, it’s unbelievable the first time you try it. And in terms of learning the more technical things, I had support from my team. Anyway, the electronics are the hardest thing to master - it’s something you don’t learn about just through talking or reading or hearing explanations, you need to practice and practice, try it all a lot of times, and work closely with your engineers…It’s always tough to be a rookie, but the team welcomed me and supported me a lot, and that made everything easier. To be honest they very quickly became my second family, and it’s rare to bond with a team like that. We work well together and it’s always a good atmosphere. For 2020 I will be working on my riding style; I have a naturally aggressive style, which has some advantages, but I need to become smoother. My impression of the 2020 GSX-RR is really good, I feel pretty comfortable with it already, so I expect a really good season next year because we’ve worked well and worked hard, and we’ve learnt a lot of things.Happy Holidays Everyone!2019 Winter IssueTeam SUZUKI ECSTAR’s Joan Mir sums-up his first season in MotoGP aboard the GSX-RR in his new team.“It’s always tough to be a rookie, but the team welcomed me and supported me a lot, and that made everything easier.”Team SUZUKI ECSTAR MotoGPJOAN MIRBLOG
