It’s feels strange to think we’re already half way through the 2019 season - my debut year in MotoGP! Time ffiies by, but on the other hand we’ve only had eight races, so it’s still all quite new for me! But every race that the Team and I have together, we know each other better and our bond grows stronger. The truth is that it feels like we’ve known each other for a long time already, because everyone in our team is really nice and welcoming. If I’m honest, when I arrived in the team I was a bit surprised by the number of people ready to help me. In Moto2 you work with just five people, and in MotoGP it’s very different; you have a lot of support around you. At first I wasn’t used to it, but now it’s started to become normal for me. I really appreciate it, but I must admit that 0505TEAM SUZUKI RACING NEWSTEAM SUZUKI RACING NEwSwhen I arrived it was dificult to remember everybody’s names! When I go to the box or the hospitality in the mornings, it takes a long time to say hello to everybody! It’s a funny thing, but at the same time it’s really nice! Thinking back to my first dinner with the team, there were a lot of tables and so many new faces - it was a little bit overwhelming to find that many people and such a good atmosphere. I had a really strong start to the season in Qatar, and then I went through a run of bad luck where I made a few small mistakes, and I also had some misfortune which was out of my hands. I’m glad that the last few races have been more positive for me - I finished 6th in Catalunya, 8th in Holland, and 7th in Germany. Sometimes you hear about ‘polemics’ in other teams but, as I said, we all get along well and have a good relationship. This helps in the bad moments as well as the good ones. It means that we share our successes and our disappointments, all together. It’s true that it’s a big adjustment to move to MotoGP, but I feel natural with my GSX-RR in the sense that I have been able to bring my own riding style. Many fans have commented on it - I’m pleased to read those messages! I think your riding style is something you can’t make major changes to, every rider has their ‘character’ on the bike and their own style. Of course, I’ve had to adapt and work on areas like harder braking, but overall I feel I’ve just stayed true to my natural style. I’ve had the same way of riding since I was in Moto3, but it wasn’t as obvious then. As the bikes have got bigger, my style has become more pronounced - more aggressive, more savage!I’m excited to get back on track for the second half of the season, but for now I’m going to have a little rest in my beloved Mallorca and spend time with my family and friends, who I don’t see much. And then I’ll be back to training - I want to continue my run of good results!Bye for now!2019 Issue #1 - Summer2019 Issue #1 - SummerTeam SUZUKI ECSTAR’s rookie lets us in to his mid-season thoughts in this special blog; from how he’s adjusted to factory life, to building bonds with his new found crew. “BUT EvERY RACE THAT THE TEAM AND I HAvE TOGETHER, WE KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER AND OUR BOND GROWS STRONGER”JOAN BLOG MIR “A big adjustment, but natural”
