Then, after 20 hours, needed to take an unexpected pitstop but fought back in true SERT fashion to finish 5th.Round 2):Le Mans 24-HR: SERT raced to third position and moved-up into second place in the championship.Round 3): Slovakia Ring 8-HR: Suzuki Endurance Racing Team leads the Endurance World Championship after racing to second at the Slovakia Ring 8 Hours in Slovakia.Round 4): Oschersleben 8-HR: SERT kept a 16th series victory alive after fighting back from two crashes during the Oschersleben 8 Hours Endurance round after Gregg Black got knocked-off during his stint.Round 5): Suzuka 8 HR: SERT had got into a position during the race that would have brought them home a 16th world title, albeit just 1-point ahead of SRC, but a technical issue stopped Philippe, Masson, Black and the entire team celebrating this for their long-time mentor and manager Dominique Meliand.However, Méliand, gracious as usual, commented: “A world title would have been a great present for my retirement. We were so close to achieving our aim: It’s the tough law of the sport.
