and, mid corner, the little GSX-R wants to go wherever you’re willing to point it. It blew me away, and the fact that it’s so rideable makes it the perfect first bike for newbie riders, or a great choice for those returning to riding. Heavy braking is the Suzuki’s forte. Its front anchor offers surprisingly good performance and the Bosch ABS package is thankfully non-intrusive. You can get it working, but that requires some excessive pulling. Another mightily overwhelming feature on the GSX-R125 are the tyres; co-developed with Dunlop, the D102’s heat up insanely fast for a standard (and let’s face it, budget) road tyre, and offer an absolutely immense amount of grip, feeling and confidence – even to the very edge. Though ground clearance wasn’t a massive issue at all, by the end of the day we had to remove all of the hero blobs from the pegs to get that little extra angle, and the Dunlop hoops held up immensely. All in, I had a right blast on the Suzuki. It’s the kind of bike you can’t help but enjoy riding, and its best quality is that it doesn’t just pretend to be a thoroughbred sportsbike; it truly is one. I’ve ridden all of the 125cc rivals in the sector and nothing can touch this bike for stability and engine performance. It’s a winner all ways round, and the price tag is smack where it needs to be.”*Check your local distributor’s website for pricing information.
