He started racing in both the Italian and Spanish Championships in 2004, when he was 15 years old. He moved into the 125 World Championship in 2005, winning 4 races before stepping up to Moto2 in 2010. Always finishing in the Top 3 places in the Championship, and winning 8 races. He moved up to MotoGP in 2013, and in the 2015 season - his third in MotoGP - he took fifth place overall, having taken one pole position and three podiums. In 2017 he joined Team SUZUKI ECSTAR and brought his passionate and energetic personality with him. After a positive start in Qatar, he then struggled with his adaptation to the GSX-RR in the first part of the season. But he managed to find more and more efficiency, and the results became better. His best results so were 2nd and 3rd place in qualifying in Qatar and Valencia respectively.
