on track I struggled a lot with the bike wheelie-ing, and especially the ‘landing’: when the front tyre touched the ground the front wheel was always pointing in the wrong direction, and the front would then tuck. I had so many scares with that, I feel like I lost a couple of years of my life! So I said to myself that I had to learn – very quickly – not only to better counterbalance the wheelie-ing, but also to realign the steering before touching the ground.”Mir’s eyes start to sparkle when he begins to speak about the most exciting aspects of the GSX-RR MotoGP machine. “I spend so much time braking! The speed of this beast is impressive, and so the braking must be hard and accurate. Carbon discs are very strange: when you first take to the track and they are cold they don’t really work at all. It’s a very particular feeling, it’s exciting but you also have to be careful.”“I had very positive feelings from my first tests with the Suzuki Team and the GSX-RR bike” ends Mir. “Our primary objective for this year will be to learn and to progressively reduce the gap from the leader, race after race. I felt very confident on the MotoGP bike, and this was confirmation that our decision to jump to the Premier Class after only one year in Moto2 was right. Now we can enjoy it and work towards growing and improving”.35tEAM sUZUKI RACING NEWs2018 REVIEWFINdING MY FlOW ANd I BElIEVE It WIll BE thE BEst WAY tO PERFORM “I WIll ENJOY WEll”
