After racing to second in the new-format 2016-2017 EWC, Frenchmen Vincent Philippe and Etienne Masson were joined by British-born and long-time resident of France, Gregg Black, aboard the new 2017 GSX-R1000 for the 2017-2018 season, which kicked-off with the Bol d’Or 24-Hour in France in September. All SERT’s World Championships - apart from its first world title in 1983, aboard the GS1000 - have been won on GSX-R machinery: the GSX-R750 from 1987-to 1999; and then with the GSX-R1000 from 2005 onwards.
