In the race, the team were consistently in the top-three, moving to second at one stage after an exciting mid-race battle with Team Green, but at the flag just missed the second-step of the podium by a mere 10 seconds.After leading the race in the opening stages Yukio Kagayama, Naomichi Uramoto and Ryuichi Kiyonari were unlucky not to finish on the podium; a problem with the front tyre on the 52nd lap forced Kagayama to have an extra pit-stop and more time lost trying to fit the wheel dropped them into the mid-pack.
