06 TEAM SUZUKI RACINGWhat is your history with Suzuki Corporation?“I started to work at Suzuki in 1988, almost immediately in the racing department. I took part in all the racing activities done in the last 22 years and now I am the Project Leader of the MotoGP™ project. This mainly means that I am responsible of the project in its whole, both on the track and in the factory development department.”What is the story behind the racing activities in the last few years?“In 2011 Suzuki to quit racing in of the world economic crisis. market was down and it didn’t make sense to waste resources in racing without doing it at the top level. Therefore we decided to dedicate all the investments in R&D, to build up a totally brand-new machine that will get back racing when we are ready and competitive. 2014 as the year for the comeback, but then some regulations changed and some issues with the development suggested us to postpone by one year.”Motor Corporation decided MotoGP™, mainly because The two-wheeler We targeted What is the racing team’s configuration?“Even though we are a full factory team, which means that all the costs are covered by the company, we are still a new team, I mean both on-track and at home. We are probably the smallest group within the factory teams, but we can rely on very skilled professionals. Many of the team members have been working in racing for years, so they are well experienced. first appearance with Randy de Puniet, the test team was made up of a crew chief, engineers and mechanics who had been working for Suzuki for many years. In the R&D department in Hamamatsu we can rely on experts as well, so even though we are not a big group we can rely on a very good feeling within all of us, both on track and at home.”Motor What is the philosophy behind the GSX-RR?“At Suzuki Motor Corporation we believe that racing makes sense if you can take benefit of it for your road products, therefore we decided to go for the inline four-cylinder engine. It is harder to develop for racing, since it has some limits, but it is the same configuration that goes on our commercially-sold GSX-Rs so it’s wiser to develop one engine that can be used for both purposes. At the same time we wanted to develop a machine that was very nice to ride, to compensate somehow the limits coming from this engine configuration, so we developed a chassis that looks to be very effective at the moment.
