Suzuki Holds Inauguration Ceremony for Kharkhoda Automobile Manufacturing Facility in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation held an inauguration ceremony on July 2 for a new automobile manufacturing facility established by its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (hereinafter “Maruti Suzuki”), in Kharkhoda, Haryana. The ceremony took place at the “India - Japan Joint Economic Forum” held in Delhi, India.
The event was organized to coincide with the visit of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to India. It was attended by Prime Minister Takaichi, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and other government officials from both countries. Representing Suzuki was President Toshihiro Suzuki, while Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi attended on behalf of Maruti Suzuki.
With the commencement of operations at the Kharkhoda plant, Suzuki’s annual automobile production capacity in India is now approximately 2.65 million units. In addition, a new production line at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of FY2026. Land has also been secured for a new plant in Sanand, Gujarat, and Suzuki aims to establish a production system with an annual capacity of 4 million units in the 2030s.

From current capacity of half a million units, the plant will be further scaled to one million units, making it one of the largest automobile plants of the world. - * A new production line with an annual capacity of 250,000 units is scheduled to commence operations at the Hansalpur Plant in the first half of FY2026.
A new plant in Sanand with an initial annual capacity of 250,000 units (expandable up to 1 million units) is planned to begin operations by 2029.
