Suzuki Signs Memorandum of Understanding
for a New Biogas Plant in Assam, India

Suzuki Motor Corporation (“Suzuki”), through its wholly owned subsidiary Suzuki R&D Center India Private Limited (“SRDI”), has been working in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (“NDDB”) and dairy industry unions in India on the development of biogas production plants.

Today, a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed among SRDI, NDDB, and North East Dairy & Foods Limited (NEDFL), headquartered in Guwahati, Assam, a joint venture between the Government of Assam and NDDB, regarding a new biogas plant in the state.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman & Managing Director of NDDB; Mr. S. Rajeev, Executive Director of NDDB; Mr. S. B. Bose, Managing Director of NEDFL; Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki; and Kenichiro Toyofuku, Director of SRDI and Managing Officer of Suzuki.

Suzuki will continue to work on the biogas business to contribute to both the development of rural areas in India and the realization of carbon neutrality.

“Suzuki is currently involved in nine biogas plants across India, two of which are already in operation in Banaskantha, Gujarat. Today, a new memorandum of understanding regarding a biogas plant in Assam was signed. Suzuki will continue to make contributions in its own way toward the efforts of the governments of Japan and India to promote the adoption of biogas plants in India.”
