Ken Roczen of Progressive Insurance Cycle Gear ECSTAR Suzuki, competing on the RM-Z450, secured the Championship title at Round 17 of the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, the premier motocross racing series, held on 9 May (local time) in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. This marks the first AMA Supercross title for a Suzuki rider in 16 years since Ryan Dungey in 2010, and the fifth overall premier title for Suzuki.
The AMA Supercross Championship, organized by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), is the world’s premier motocross racing series. Held annually from January through May, it consists of 17 rounds staged across the United States. Riders compete throughout the season in pursuit of the series title.
Ken Roczen competed in the premier 450cc class with Progressive Insurance Cycle Gear ECSTAR Suzuki, supported by Suzuki Motor USA, LLC, Suzuki’s motorcycle subsidiary in the United States. Over the course of the season, Roczen achieved 12 podium finishes including 5 victories, moving into the lead of the points standings with his victory at Round 15 (Philadelphia).
Entering the final Round 17 (Salt Lake City) with the second-place rider trailing by just one point, Roczen held off the strong pressure from the trailing riders in top position in the first half of the race.

From mid-race he demonstrated precise and consistent riding, and defended his leading position in the championship. Suzuki’s stance on craftsmanship—refining the fundamental strengths of the RM-Z450 that was tried and tested through years of racing development—and the team’s unified efforts in tuning the machine to bring out optimal, rider-friendly performance played a key role in Roczen’s championship-winning season.

Comment by Takashi Ise, Managing Officer, Executive General Manager, Motorcycle Operations

“We are truly proud that Roczen has captured the championship title. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the people who supported Roczen and the Suzuki RM-Z. Roczen faced a period of difficulty due to injuries in the past. However, since joining Suzuki, he has steadily regained his form, and he has made a full comeback and won the title. Roczen’s attitude of always valuing his fans strongly resonates with our corporate slogan ‘By Your Side.’ We look forward to your continued support for Roczen and Suzuki.”
