Suzuki Holds Opening Ceremony of Second
Biogas Plant in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter "Suzuki") and Suzuki R&D Center India Private Limited (hereinafter “SRDI”), a subsidiary of Suzuki in India, held the opening ceremony of the BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT, in Bhukhala, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, on 18 January 2026.

This is Suzuki’s second biogas plant following the Agthala plant which opened in December 2025. It will produce and sell biogas as fuel for CNG vehicles (CBG), as well as sell organic fertilizer from cow dung after biogas generation.

In September 2023, Suzuki signed an agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (hereinafter "NDDB") and Banas Dairy (headquartered in Gujarat) through SRDI, and has agreed to the construction of 5 biogas plants, including the active 2 plants (Agthala and Bhukhala) as of this day.

The opening ceremony of BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT held on 18 January was attended by Mr. Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, Mr. Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy and Speaker of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, and Kenichiro Toyofuku, Managing Officer, Executive General Manager, Biogas Operations of Suzuki.

Biogas, a carbon-neutral fuel, can be used in CNG vehicles, which account for about 20% of the passenger car market in India, and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the operation of biogas plants will lead to improved energy self-sufficiency, the creation of new jobs, and enhanced rural income and living standards through the purchase of cattle dung.

Suzuki will continue to work on the biogas business to contribute to both India’s growth and the realization of carbon neutrality.
