Suzuki Decides Acquisition of Land for New Plant
in the State of Gujarat, India
Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (hereinafter, “Maruti Suzuki”), has decided to acquire land from the Government of Gujarat for a new automobile production plant to be constructed in Sanand, Gujarat State, India.
In January 2024, Maruti Suzuki reached a basic agreement with the State of Gujarat regarding the construction of a second automobile production plant in the state.
The State of Gujarat offers a well-developed supply chain and infrastructure. In addition, its proximity to ports makes it an advantageous location not only as a production base for the Indian domestic market, but also as an export hub for complete vehicles. Furthermore, Sanand, where the new plant will be built, provides excellent access to highways and railway networks.
In preparation for the future growth of the automobile market in India and the expansion of exports from India, Suzuki will steadily increase its production capacity and contribute to the “Make in India” initiative.
