Suzuki Holds the Opening Ceremony of
BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter, "Suzuki") and Suzuki R&D Center India Private Limited (hereinafter, “SRDI”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Suzuki in India, held the opening ceremony of BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT, located in Agthala, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, on 6 December 2025. BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT is Suzuki’s first plant to produce and sell biogas as fuel for CNG vehicles (CBG).

In September 2023, Suzuki signed an agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (hereinafter, "NDDB") and dairy industry union Banas Dairy (headquartered in Banaskantha, Gujarat) through SRDI, and has been proceeding with the construction of the biogas plant.

The opening ceremony, held on 6 December at the Banas Dairy Sanadar Plant, was attended by H.E. Mr. Amit Shah, Minister of Home Affairs, 9 Indian bipartisan parliament members, government officials, Mr. Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy and Speaker of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Koichi Suzuki, Managing Officer, Executive General Manager, India Operations of Suzuki, and Kenichiro Toyofuku, Managing Officer, Executive General Manager, Biogas Operations of Suzuki, as well as approximately 25,000 dairy farmers. After the ceremony, Minister Amit Shah, along with other key participants, visited and inspected the BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT.

BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT plans to produce and sell 1.5 tons of CBG per day from a maximum of 100 tons of cow dung. At the same time, they will produce and sell organic fertilizer. Approximately 1.5 tons of CBG is equivalent to the amount of fuel required for approximately 850 unit of CNG vehicles per day *.

  • *Fuel consumption of CNG vehicles is assumed to be 33.47km/kg (catalogue value of Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s WagonR CNG vehicles) and the daily running distance is assumed to be 60km.

Comments from Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki
