Suzuki Changes Consolidation Bags for Spare Parts Packaging to Biodegradable Plastic for All Products

Consolidation bag made of biodegradable plastic

Suzuki Motor Corporation has switched the consolidation bags*1 used for shipping spare parts to dealers and repair shops to biodegradable plastic containing “P-Life Additive” from P-Life Japan Inc. The “P-Life Additive” is an additive made from plant oil (biomass) that facilitates the microbial degradation of hard-to-decompose plastics*2, enabling their circulation back into the natural environment.

This change applies to consolidation bags for spare parts for all products, including automobiles, motorcycles, and outboard motors. The transition began in February 2025 and was completed in May of the same year. At the same time, the size and specifications of the consolidation bags were also reviewed.

The biodegradable plastic adopted for the consolidation bag is ultimately decomposed by microorganisms in the natural environment, reducing the long-term persistence of plastic waste and lowering the risk of environmental pollution.

In addition to this initiative, Suzuki is also working to reduce petroleum-based plastics used in the packaging of outboard motors. Going forward, Suzuki will continue efforts to reduce environmental impact and promote environmentally conscious initiatives aimed at achieving the SDGs.

  • *2 Plastics that are difficult to decompose naturally, such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) resins
