Senior Corporate Advisor Osamu Suzuki receives the
Padma Vibhushan award of the Republic of India

Osamu Suzuki, Senior Corporate Advisor of Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter, Suzuki), who passed away on 25 December 2024 was conferred Padma Vibhushan* by the Hon’ble President of India. The award was announced by the Government of India on 25 January 2025. Senior Corporate Advisor Osamu Suzuki received this award in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the fields of trade and industry, especially solidifying India-Japan ties in the automobile sector.
- * The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India given to a person who has made outstanding contributions in various fields. Osamu Suzuki received Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in 2007.
The conferment ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidential Palace) in New Delhi, India on 28 April 2025. The decoration was given by President of India, Droupadi Murmu to Suzuki’s Representative Director and President Toshihiro Suzuki on behalf of Osamu Suzuki.
Suzuki's Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki achieved accumulated automobile production of 30 million units and annual production of 2 million units in 2024. Total automobile exports from India, which began in 1986, have exceeded 3 million units, cumulatively.

My sincere gratitude to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu and the government of India for awarding the prestigious Padma Vibhushan to my father, Osamu Suzuki, Senior Corporate Advisor, Suzuki Motor Corporation.
I believe he is, from heaven, looking back fondly on the 45 years he spent with India, his second home.
This award goes not only to my father, but also to all the people who have worked at Suzuki and India and all our business partners, who have supported us on this journey.
He must be feeling very proud today. I am also feeling extremely proud to receive this award, and I hope all the employees at Suzuki and India and our business partners would feel proud of this recognition.
