Suzuki Offers Environmental Value Generated by Solar Power Generation to a Power Company in Hamamatsu

Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter, Suzuki) and our subsidiary Suzuki Business Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, Suzuki Business) have agreed to offer Hamamatsu Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter Hamamatsu Energy) the environmental value*1 related to electricity generated by solar power plants utilizing a FIT (feed-in tariff) system in Hamamatsu City.

Suzuki and Suzuki Business operate solar power supply utilizing FIT at three locations in Hamamatsu City. Hamamatsu Energy, whose largest shareholder is Hamamatsu City promotes local production and consumption of renewable energy and supplies electricity produced in Hamamatsu to elementary and junior high schools, shops and large offices in the city.
In response to requests from Hamamatsu City, Suzuki and Suzuki Business agreed with Hamamatsu City’s initiative for the local production and consumption of renewable energy. We will contribute to Hamamatsu City's target of improving energy self-sufficiency and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 by providing environmental value.

Suzuki has been promoting local production and local consumption of renewable energy since the introduction of Shizuoka Green Denki*2, which is CO2-free electricity derived from renewable energy produced in Shizuoka Prefecture in July 2023. We will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by strengthening cooperation with local communities.

    The added value of carbon dioxide emission reduction brought by renewable energy that does not emit carbon dioxide during power generation.
  • *2  Shizuoka Green Denki
    Substantial 100% renewable energy by utilizing the environmental value derived from hydro-electric power generation, solar power generation, etc.
    This is a service provided by Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Inc., which utilizes the environmental value and local production value derived from renewable energy sources such as hydro-electric power plants located in Shizuoka Prefecture to supply electricity produced in Shizuoka Prefecture with zero CO2 emissions.
