Resumption of operation at Manesar Plant of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.,

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., (Maruti Suzuki), an Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation (Suzuki), had announced on 21 July the lockout of its Manesar plant because of the safety of the employees could not be secured due to the violence occurred on 18 July. Today, Maruti Suzuki decided to lift the lockout and to resume the operation at its Manesar plant from 21 August.

Maruti Suzuki judged that it reached the level that the safety and security of the employees could be secured, since the alleged leader group who caused the case have been arrested by Haryana police, and approx. 500 workmen who related to the violence have been terminated by Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki will request Haryana police to take forceful measures to arrest the suspects, and will enhance the security by cooperating with the police. The investigation by the police and by Maruti Suzuki will continue.

Suzuki shall support Maruti Suzuki, in order to smooth the labor relation, and cooperate for the further development of the Indian automobile industry.
