Fiscal 2008 key points

  • Overall Japan production volume decreased year-on-year for the first time in five fiscal years. Japan production volume remained the same for the domestic market but decreased for the export.
  • Overseas production volume (especially in Pakistan) decreased year-on-year for the first time in eight fiscal years due to the global economic crisis from the latter half of fiscal 2008.
  • Global production volume decreased year-on-year for the first time in eight fiscal years.

Fiscal 2008 key points

Mini vehicles
  • Overall unit sales of mini vehicles decreased year-on-year for the third consecutive fiscal year, though the Palette, new Wagon R and new Alto Lapin has been launched in Japan and reinforced the Suzuki’s mini vehicle lineup.
  • Suzuki’s share of Japan’s mini-vehicle market was 32.0% (1.0 percentage point up year-on-year).
Non-mini vehicles
  • Overall unit sales of non-mini vehicles decreased year-on-year for the first time in nine fiscal years. The Splash has been launched in Japan and the unit sales of the Swift and Chevrolet MW increased but they did not offset a decrease in unit sales of other models.
  • Suzuki’s share of Japan’s non-mini-vehicle market was 3.0% (0.5 percentage point up year-on-year).
