Suzuki Supports East Asian Football Championship 2008

Suzuki Motor Corporation is pleased to announce its support for the East Asian Football Championship 2008.

The East Asian Football Championship is organized by the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF), which has 10 members: China, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Macau, Mongolia, and the Northern Mariana Islands. It has been held every other year since 2003 and is aimed at raising the standard of Asian football to a world-class level and at making football more popular in the region.

The preliminary competition for the East Asian Football Championship 2008 will begin on 17 June 2007. The finals will be played from 17 to 24 February 2008 in Chongqing, China. The finals of the EAFF Women's Football Championship 2008 will be played concurrently in Chongqing. The finals of each championship will take the form of a round-robin tournament.

Suzuki has extensive interests in China through a wholly owned subsidiary, Suzuki Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (based in Beijing), and two joint-venture companies, Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile Co., Ltd. (based in Chongqing) and Jiangxi Changhe Suzuki Automobile Co., Ltd. (based in Jiangxi Province). By supporting the East Asian Football Championship 2008, we hope to promote sport in the region and enhance our brand image both in China and in Asia as a whole.
