A Suzuki's compact car "Swift" was awarded the 2006 RJC Car of
the Year hosted by the Automotive Researchers' & Journalists' Conference
of Japan (RJC). For Suzuki, this is the second win of this prize following
on Wagon R (1993), which was the only prized mini-vehicle in the RJC history.
Suzuki "Swift" was developed with a concept of Bold Style & Dynamic
Drive with key-words of "Styling" and "Dynamic Performance".
It is the first Suzuki's World Strategic Model which is produced in Japan,
Hungary, India, and China and is marketed worldwide. It pursued "dynamism" and "stability" in
styling and dynamic performance which offers fun to drive in every moment.
It combined "ordinary life" and "fun to drive" in high
level. The sales of "Swift" is growing steadily in every market
and it is supposed to achieve accumulated 200,000 units production in 2005.
Furthermore, "Swift Sport" with higher grade of dynamics was
launched in Japanese market in September 2005, which reinforced Suzuki's
lineup as a Suzuki's "driving flagship", which realizes a sporty
driving even its compact body.
The model lineup varies from 1.3L basic version to 1.6L sporty version
to meet the various demands of customers.
As an additional blessing event, "Swift" was awarded the Car
of the Year 2006 in Iceland on 23rd October 2005, which proved the global
acceptance of this model, and it certainly will help further sales expansion
worldwide.

This year’s selection was conducted by 72 jurors among
21 domestic models which are planned to produce more than 5,000 units yearly
and was released during the period of 1st November 2004 to 31st October
