Suzuki Motor Corporation announced the start of sales of new passenger vehicle, New Swift at Maruti Udyog, Ltd (New Delhi, Managing Director: Mr. Jagdish Khattar), Suzuki's Indian subsidiary of automobile production and distribution. On May 25th, the press conference has been held with the presence of all the executives of Maruti, inviting journalists, local parts supplier and dealers.
The New Swift is a compact car developed as a world-strategic model which is produced in 4 countries such as Japan, Hungary (Magyar Suzuki Corporation), China (Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile Co., Ltd.), and India(Maruti Udyog Ltd.), to be launched all over the world.
The company has been Suzuki's manufacturing/distribution subsidiary since 1983, and achieved 540,000 units of annual production/sales(including export) during April 2004 through March 2005. The accumulate production units reached five million in April 2005. Maruti will enhance domestic sales with this New Swift 1300cc, which is a little bigger in the Indian market, where the small cars with around 1000cc are the main competitors.
