Maruti in India Achieved 5 Million Units Production
Maruti Udyog Limited, Suzuki's Indian subsidiary of automobile manufacturing and marketing in India, achieved total production units of five million on April 27. The five-millionth product was an "Wagon R"
 
The Maruti plant's first product was the "Maruti 800", which rolled off the production lines on December 14, 1983. They have achieved one-millionth unit in March 1994, two-millionth in October 1997, three-millionth in June 2000 and four-millionth in April 2003. Since the four million unit achievement, it has taken only two years to reach the five million units this time.

Managing Director of Maruti Udyog Limited Jagdish Khattar said, "The memorial five-millionth vehicle symbolises the collective efforts and aspirations of Maruti employees, our suppliers, dealers, service workshops, marketing partners and above all, our customers, who have reposed faith in us time and again during these two decades."
