2002 Paris International Motor Show
New Suzuki Passenger car products at the Paris Motor Show

Wagon R+

Suzuki is unveiling a new 5-seater version of the Wagon R+ at the Paris Motor Show this year. This is a car which has been an unparalleled successful since it was first launched. It is the result of Suzuki's experience in the "

K class" in Japan over almost 30 years.
The new 5-seater versions have been designed to carry the whole family. The design of the new Wagon R+ provides large openings for easy access to a space which can now take five passengers. A very popular feature of the Wagon R+ is the seat height, which makes it easy for everyone to get in and out.

The back seats can be folded flat, to make maximum use of the versatile and very large internal volume. The boot can take 300 litres of luggage in the normal position and up to 1200 litres in "estate car" position. It is interesting to note that the rear seats are 7 centimetres higher than the front seats, to give passengers better visibility. The parcel shelf is now rigid.

Safety is a priority for a family car like the Wagon R+.
ABS is now fitted as standard, dual airbags and pre-tensioned and force-limiting seat belts protect front seat passengers, as well as door reinforcements and retractable pedals for the driver. Side airbags are fitted on the top of the range version. In the back, passengers have three-point seat belts and three head restraints.
The Wagon R+ has power steering, which is both lightweight, compact and economical as its servo-motor only comes into operation when the steering wheel is turned.
The MacPherson type front suspension struts make the Wagon R+ very pleasant to drive.

The new Wagon R+ range:
- 5 seats and 5 three-point seat belts
- ABS as standard - Remote door opening - Smooth glass headlamps
- A rigid parcel shelf
- New seat fabrics
- New storage areas in the cabin
- New colours for the instrument panel and door trims
- 6 body colours, 3 of which are new.

In terms of equipment, two finishes are available: GL and GLX.
The GL version has electric front windows, remote controlled central locking, roof bars and painted front and rear bumpers.
In addition the GLX version has light alloy wheels, side airbags, fog lamps, a rear spoiler and an RDS radio/CD player.
Metallic paint and air conditioning are available as options.

Engines
The 16-valve aluminium 1.3 litre petrol engine develops 56 kW (76 bhp) and 115 Nm at 4250 rpm. The Wagon R+ reaches 100 km per hour in just 12.8 seconds, with a combined cycle consumption of 6.1 litres/100 km.
The Wagon R+ is available with a 5-speed manual transmission or with a new electronically controlled automatic transmission (on the GLX only).
