2/3SUZUKI FAMILYSeptember 2015What’s Goin’ On?2015 Is a Proud Year for Suzuki GSX-RSuzuki off to solid start in return to MotoGPn commemoration of GSX-R’s 30th anniversary, for races is Sachsenring, Germany and Indianapolis, USA, fans were treated to the sight of Suzuki’s super-sports and riders outfitted in the legendary blue and white colors and designs pioneered by Kevin Schwantz in the 1980’s. With Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro on board the GSX-RR, Suzuki is reviving a proud tradition on the MotoGP circuit. Sporting Suzuki’s traditional blue and white, Team SUZUKI ECSTAR, named after Suzuki’s high-performance engine oil, ECSTAR, qualified for a front row start in only the third race of the series, the Grand Prix of Argentina in April.In June the competition moved to Europe with events in Catalonia, Spain and Assen, Netherlands. In an historic first, Team SUZUKI ECSTAR grabbed the first two places on the grid, the first time Suzuki had been on the pole position since 2007. Again, winning a front row slot in qualifying, Aleix bagged second position in the qualifier at Assen. For Suzuki fans the tradition lives on.Suzuka 8 Hours: Kagayama podiums, SERT extends point leadith a strong performance at Suzuka 8 Hours on 26th July, Team Kagayama finished on the podium again and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) extended its lead in the World Endurance Championship Series. Suzuki teams captured 3 of the top 5 finishing positions with Team Kagayama in third, SERT in fourth and Yoshimura SUZUKI Shell Advance finishing fifth. SERT’s solid run allowed them to build on the remarkable Suzuki efforts at LeMans 24 Hours in April to increase their lead in the Championship series to 29 points. The two riders on board SERT, Vincent Philippe and Anthony Delhalle, both said the race was a difficult one but the result was good for the team.Cheering enthusiastically and wearing special hats and shirts to celebrate 30 years since the introduction of Suzuki’s iconic GSX-R Supersport bike, it was a great day. Riders, staff and fans, all united as TEAM SUZUKI are looking towards a future that will be even more glorious than Suzuki’s proud past.IW
