What’s Goin’ On?SHOWTIME Bangkok Motor Show: Suzuki Unveils CIAZ Authentic SedanSuzuki Motor Corporation launched the authentic sedan Ciaz at the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand in March.At a very high level, Ciaz embodies every element required in a sedan: stylish, high-quality design; ample, comfortable interior space; well-balanced fuel efficiency and driving performance; and high safety performance. Production of the Ciaz for the Thai market by Suzuki Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (SMT) started in June. At the press conference, SMC’s President, then Executive Vice President Toshihiro Suzuki said, “The ASEAN area accounts for 10% of our global automobile sales and is very important for our global business. Models manufactured at the Rayong Plant are exported to ASEAN and European countries. Thailand is now an important site for the global business of Suzuki. We will continue to pursue higher driving performance and efficient packaging, and produce refined products here in Thailand to provide value exceeding customers’ expectations.” Suzuki Exhibits Concept Vehicles at 16th Shanghai Automobile ExhibitionAt the 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition held in China in April, SMC exhibited two concept models premiering in China, the iK-2 and iM-4, and Suzuki’s new BOOSTERJET, a 1.4L direct-injection turbo petrol engine.The iK-2, for which Suzuki plans to launch a production model in China, realises all essential elements of a compact car of this size: design, utility, comfort, manoeuvrability, driving performance and excellent fuel efficiency.The iM-4 vehicle represents an entirely new genre from Suzuki, which has consistently delivered innovative products in the compact SUV and crossover categories, opening up new ways to have fun. Suzuki is also considering introduction of a production model based on the iM-4 to exploit the potential of the new category in China.In addition, the new Vitara is currently being refined to suit the tastes of Chinese customers and is going to be released by the end of this year.
