1999 | Hayabusa(GSX1300R)
Development that realized the concept of “The Ultimate Sport Bike”
The distinctive and impactful styling of the original Hayabusa was designed using the upper body armor and helmet worn by Samurai warriors as a motif to realize superlative aerodynamics and thoroughly protect the rider from the wind. The Hayabusa combines a compact chassis equipped with a highly aerodynamic aluminum twin-beam frame that also helps the rider maintain a low head position, with an in-line 4-cylinder 1,300 cm³ DOHC engine featuring a side cam chain layout. The engine also features state-of-the-art technologies, such as cylinders lined with Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM), a coating with excellent heat dissipation and wear resistance, a two-stage injection system, and the SRAD ram air system. Developed under the concept of “The Ultimate Sport Bike” for riding on public roads, the Hayabusa was welcomed with open arms throughout the world as Suzuki’s flagship model.

2008 | Hayabusa (GSX1300R)
The first model change of Suzuki’s world-leading performance icon and an increase in engine size
Without making major changes to the structure of the original model, the engine displacement was increased by expanding the core to extend the stroke by 2 mm, boosting its cubic capacity from 1,298 to 1,340 cm³. Maximum horsepower was increased to 197 PS. New technologies for the second generation Hayabusa include the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) system, twin fuel injectors, titanium intake and exhaust valves, and the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), which allow riders to select their preferred power characteristics for medium- or long-distance trips on highways or for riding on city streets. To best balance the effectiveness of the wind-shielding performance and the aerodynamics of the bike, extensive tests were conducted in Suzuki’s wind tunnel facility covering both normal riding positions and extreme positions with the rider fully tucked in behind the fairing.

2014 | Hayabusa (GSX1300R)
Debut of European spec-equivalent performance model in Japan
This is a Japanese spec version of the globally recognized world-leading performance icon. Specially homologated for the Japanese market, the 2014 Hayabusa is equipped with a 1,300 cm³ liquid-cooled 4-stroke in-line 4-cylinder engine that generates a maximum horsepower of 145 kW (197 PS) and a maximum torque of 155 N·m, equivalent to the European spec model. In addition to the same Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) installed on overseas spec models, this Japanese spec Hayabusa also features powerful radial monoblock brake calipers at the front wheel, as well as an anti-lock braking system (ABS). This Hayabusa is also the first motorcycle in Japan to feature an onboard Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) device as standard equipment.

2021 | Hayabusa(GSX1300R)
Suzuki’s flagship model with a superb aerodynamic silhouette and ultimate riding performance
The all-new Hayabusa is the third-generation model which has undergone a full-model change for the first time in 13 years. Under the product concept “Ultimate Sport”, inherited from the very first generation, it has further evolved the unique styling design with outstanding aerodynamic performance and superior riding performance.
The new and iconic styling design, which is instantly recognizable as the Hayabusa, has a flowing, forward slanting and aggressive silhouette characterized by its bold surfaces with sharp and edgy lines. The 1,340 cm3 in-line 4-cylinder engine features a ride-by-wire electronic throttle system and revised intake and exhaust mechanisms for enhanced output and torque in the low-to-mid speed range. It meets the Euro 5 emissions standards while maintaining its best performance in the high-speed range by pursuing top-level aerodynamic performance.
The newly installed Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) features SDMS-α, which helps riders to select pre-set patterns on 5 different electronic control systems including Power Mode Selector, Traction Control, and 3 other controls. Various mode selections are offered for each electronic control system to better fit varying riding scenes from city riding to touring, racetracks, and better serve riders’ preferences and skill levels.
