The 38th Tokyo Motor Show - Commercial & Barrier-free Vehicles

Suzuki Motor Corporation participate in the 38th Tokyo Motor Show - Commercial & Barrier-free Vehicles, which is held from 3 through 7 November in Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Center), Makuhari, Chiba Prefecture. The details of Suzuki's exhibit are as follows:

Theme: "Small Cars for a Big Future"
   Today, mini commercial vehicles are considered vital to small shops, small factories or farmers for means of small distributions, transporting or farm work.
   Suzuki has been marketing in Japan mini truck "Carry", mini cab van "Every" and mini bonnet van "ALTO". Among them, the Carry has been the annually best selling model for 33 consecutive years since 1971, which accumulated the sales units of 3.64 million units. Suzuki has been gaining experiences also in the field of commercial car manufacturing.
   Furthermore, in the barrier-free vehicle field, the "Wheelchair Courtesy Car" based on the Wagon R has been marketed since 1996, and it has been favorably received by a lot of customers as an economical and easy to maneuver vehicle that takes advantages of the convenient mini car.
   This year's theme for the Motor Show is "Small Cars for a Big Future." Suzuki exhibits models that embody its philosophy that the expertise in small car manufacturing can create human communication with various pleasant and attractive devices and can achieve a big future also in the commercial and barrier-free vehicle industry.

Exhibition outline
5 reference cars, 11 production models, and electric wheel chairs are exhibited:

1.   Concept model "ALTO Heart Stand" - The model, which is based on the new ALTO, suggests undiscovered possibilities as a mini commercial vehicle. It is excellent in its loading capacity, equipped with lots of useful functions as a moving stall and with a remarkable height. The exhibit car at the booth is decorated as a moving florist, appealing both functionality as a car and attractiveness as a shop.
2.   Three barrier-free cars with Rotating & Sliding Passenger Seats, including the ALTO, are exhibited as reference models. Easy in and out of the front passenger seat helps those who have difficulty with their legs.
3.   Motorcycle carrier "Carry Motorcycle Carrier with Gate Lift" is exhibited as a reference commercial car. The horizontal gate lift equipped in the rear enables efficient loading work, which eases small motorcycle transportation.
4.   Other production models: Mini truck "Carry," mini van "Every," special equipment vehicles and barrier-free vehicles are exhibited.
5.   Prototype electric wheelchair "Town Cart" and production model "Senior Car" are exhibited.
