Suzuki Chairman & CEO receives Hungarian decoration
We are delighted to announce that Mr. Osamu Suzuki, Chairman & CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation was awarded “Middle Cross with the Star Order of Merit” by the Republic of Hungary. On May 18, the Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy gave the decoration to Mr. Suzuki at the House of Parliament.
The Hungarian Government awarded the decoration, highly praising the economic contribution of Suzuki Motor Corporation through the automotive industry, as the company is the first who built a passenger-car production plant in the country. In Hungary, the “Middle Cross with the Star Order of Merit” is one of the most honorable among the decorations given to private citizens.

Suzuki Motor Corporation produced 90,000 units of passenger cars in 2003 at “Magyar Suzuki Corporation”, its joint venture in Hungary. The vehicles produced at the plant are marketed in the country and also exported mainly to the Western Europe. Suzuki operates import business of Hungarian food to Japan as well, and total of 1.8 million bottles of Hungarian wine has been imported and marketed.
Chairman & CEO Osamu Suzuki was appointed to the Honorary Consul of Hungary in September 1991, and to the Honorary Consul General in October 1999.
