The IBEX 2006 Innovation Award Goes to DF300

At the 16th International Boat Builders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) held 1-3 November of 2006 in Miami, Florida, the Suzuki DF300 received the Innovation Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).

Quad Rigging of Suzuki Outboards Shows Promise

In a world first, four 300hp(220.7kw) 4-stroke Suzuki outboards recently powered a tourist boat, delivering 1200hp(882.8kw). Two 25” and two 30” DF300s were fitted to a purpose-built 12m Naiad R.I.B. destined for eco tourism in Forster, Australia.
Boat builders Woody Marine and Suzuki distributor The Haines Group took the boat for its maiden run on Moreton Bay, reaching speeds of 47 knots with 30 people on board. The Haines Group’s Greg Haines said control by synchronizing the engines was simple. The quad rigging would be useful for search and rescue, pilot boats and tourist applications, Woody Marine’s David Green said.
