European Suzuki Marine Distributors Hold Tenth Meet, in Frankfurt

Informative tour of the SIE warehouse

European Marine distributors discuss strategies for the current market.
The Suzuki Marine European Distributor Meeting, held in the suburbs of Frankfurt, Germany, on 11 to 12 May this year, was the tenth annual gathering since 1997 in Barcelona, Spain. The distributors in attendance, 35 from 16 countries, reported that this year’s four new models – the DF2.5, DF25 V-twin, Big Block DF150 and DF175 – are selling well and expected to achieve a European sales increase.
On the meet’s second day, participants toured German distributor Suzuki International Europe GmbH (SIE) at Bensheim to observe the parts warehouse and operation of the consolidated management project for parts and accessories in Europe.
Over the decade, Suzuki has introduced 21 new models of 4-stroke outboard motors, constantly expanding market share in this category. Boaters warmly welcomed Suzuki’s unveiling this year of the DF300, the largest power output 4-stroke motor industry-wide. The new model – presented at the end of August to the European press and boat builders through test rides in Stockholm, Sweden – will be introduced to the European market in early 2007.

Second Conference of Southeast Asian Outboard Motor Distributors

Southeast Asian distributors enjoy DF150/175 test rides.
Southeast Asia’s second Suzuki Marine distributor conference was held 8 to 10 March in Singapore, attended by 17 personnel from six distributors: KTS Trading of Malaysia, P.T. Indomobil Suzuki International of Indonesia, HWA Chang Trading Co., Ltd. of Korea, Taiwan Tailung of Taiwan, Protech of Hong Kong, and Neil Marine of Sri Lanka. Three representatives from Suzuki Motor Corporation welcomed them heartily.
Distributors enjoyed test rides using the new Big Block DF150W and DF175 outboard motors in the Singapore harbour. The conference reminded attendants of the goal for 2007 and discussed how to promote the 4-stroke outboard motors in the region. Sales promotion plans were outlined by Suzuki to back up the distributors’ efforts to achieve the goal.

Dutch Distributor Welcomes Journalists and Police to Suzuki Marine Test

Outstanding performance of Key Largo 28 equipped with twin-rigged DF250s

Presentation on latest outboards
In April B.V. Nimag, Suzuki’s Dutch distributor, held a marine press event to test the latest Suzuki 4-stroke outboards, offering a unique opportunity for the press to learn key features of specific engines. Before trailing the outboards on the water, a short presentation introduced the new Big Block DF175/150, the compact DF25 V-twin and the lightweight DF2.5, as well as Suzuki’s new DF300 – the largest 4-stroke outboard motor in the world to date.
Following on-the-water testing, the Dutch Water Police raced their own RIB, powered by a Suzuki V6 DF250, against a stylish Key Largo 28 with twin-rigged 184kW (250PS) outboards on the transom. As the twin rig glided effortlessly through the water, reaching an astonishing speed of 45 knots within a matter of seconds, a water policeman commented: “Although we have only one Suzuki DF250 but we are extremely happy with its performance: highly manoeuvrable, with a tight turning radius so that we can move very fast in any direction.”
