First Australian Suzuki Marine Dealer Meeting

Australian distributor Haines Suzuki Marine held the first Australian Suzuki Dealer Meeting on the Gold Coast on 7 September, 2004, hosting dealers from all over the country. Boat builders were also invited to bring their Suzuki-powered boats so that dealers and journalists could test them. Sales achievement awards were presented to the dealers at the evening dinner, where Team Freedom of Fremantle, Western Australia was named 2004 Dealer of the Year.

  Suzuki Power for Ocean Dynamics
Houseboat with twin 4-stroke outboard DF70s

Suzuki GB PLC announced that Suzuki electronic fuel-injected 4-stroke outboards have been chosen by Ocean Dynamics International Ltd. for a new range of outboard-powered RIBs (Rigid-hull Inflatable Boats) the company is developing.
Having designed and built large offshore aluminium hulled RIBs for many years – including the 11m craft piloted by Bear Grylls and his team in 2004 for the first successful unassisted crossing of the ice-strewn North Atlantic in an open boat (see Suzuki Family #120, p.13) – Ocean Dynamics is now building RIBs driven by outboards.
The Company’s Chief Executive, Shaun White, says that: “Until recently, we considered large diesel engines coupled to jet drives as the reliable solution for the extremes in which our boats are used, as well as the most economical fuel-wise. Now outboard technology has come on to the extent that performance, reliability and fuel economy seriously compete with diesel engines. With Bear Grylls, we researched all available outboards and concluded that Suzuki leads the way with their electronic fuel-injected 4-strokes.”
Richard Whittaker, Marine Sales & Marketing Manager of Suzuki GB says, “Ocean Dynamics has an international reputation for the quality of their ‘RIBWorker’ craft and we are delighted that they have chosen Suzuki as their outboard partner. The new range will no doubt appeal to leisure users who are looking for a tough hard-working RIB as well as increasing opportunities in the commercial sector.”
