Splashy Suzuki Showing at South African Boat Show

Suzuki South Africa made a big splash at the National Boat Show held at The Sundome in Johannesburg, 22-24 August. South Africa's number one water sports and boating expo, the event hosted over 35,000 boating and water sports enthusiasts who enjoyed the latest offerings of over 100 exhibitors.
   To give marine fans a close-up view of new Suzuki technology, Suzuki South Africa displayed a full range of the new 4-stroke outboard motors at the expo, with the DF115 and DF140 living up to their already superior reputation for performance and good looks. Although relatively new on the South African market, the Suzuki 4-strokes are already standouts, as the show made obvious, and excitement is building for the launch of the new V6 4-strokes in South Africa in early January 2004.



Suzuki Steps Up Marketing in Malaysia

KTS Trading, Suzuki Marine distributor in Malaysia, organized a West Malaysian Mobile Marketing Team to promote Suzuki 4-stroke outboard motors. Close relationships with military and police departments of the government prompted the distributor to offer presentations and test drives for the army and marine corps in August and September. Although previously preferring 2-stroke motors, the military were interested in such features of the 4-stroke motors as fuel-saving, lower emissions, minimum servicing and efficient, smooth engine operations, and the marine police purchased one DF140.
   In September, KTS Trading also conducted an outboard motors seminar to introduce the DF70 to the fishery department, attended by more than 50 fishermen. Recently organized special loans for those fishermen from the Malaysian government created a great opportunity to market the DF outboard motors to loan recipients.
   KTS Trading also conducted a joint promotion with a local boat manufacturer at the International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition held in October at Langkawi. Ten units of DF50 and DF140 were exhibited at the event, which was attended by 430 companies from over 20 countries.



SCI Dealership Conference in Ontario Kicks Off Brand-building Drive

At the dealership conference of Suzuki Canada Inc. (SCI) held 21-22 August in Deer Hurst, Ontario, the new V6 4-stroke DF250 outboard-motor model was unveiled to representatives from SCI's 22 dealerships, with a technical presentation and test rides.
   All participants in the DF250 test ride praised the machine's high performance, outstanding quiet and compact appearance. Dealerships welcomed SCI's launching plan for the V6 4-stroke outboard motor series, with the flagship DF250 atop the product line-up, as a project destined to build a good brand image for the Suzuki outboard motors, while maintaining the high reputation of Suzuki's current 4-stroke models.
   The Conference demonstrated SCI's sincere commitment to marine-product business, as well as its intention to deepen the market for large-displacement outboard motors in Canada, based on the launch of the V6 4-stroke DF series.
